Mommy & Daddy: we need to talk

First of all, let me say that I ludge you both very much and I think it's really adorable how you're both trying to kick me out of your room. I know you're trying to do the right thing calling me a big girl and making me sleep in my own bed, but you're making a horrible mistake. In fact, it's really quite annoying.

What the heck are you thinking?
Have these three years meant nossing to you? Is this really necessary? The new bunk bed is nice dad, but your room is pretty-ful and I need you at night, like soba needs spam! So, give it up if you know what's good for you, because I'm not backing down.

Oh yeah, and mom, when you put me to sleep please don't forget to follow the rules:
1. Face me
2. Hug me
3. Do not at any time, attempt to face or hug dad

Yes, this is just a phase. No, it is not negotiable. You will have many nights to be alone later when I am grown, believe me. Right now, it is best that you comply or the whining will only increase and you will never find your favorite earrings again.

when i have kids they will never sleep in my room on a regular basis. that's reserved for those nights when they get scared from thunder or nightmares. if not i'll never get to experience all of that marital sex that my parents and the church have been telling me to wait for !

Ah, spoken like the last words of yet-to-be-daddy. Whoever said the marriage bed was undefiled never came across my 3 year old Sommer!

I'm with you brad. I've worked hard to get the kids into their own bed.

Hi Boni! that is so touching. It breaks my heart if I know that they really want to sleep in our room and we can't let them. I remember Jeff telling my kids when we wanted some time alone not to knock unless the house is on fire which was so funny coz' I know that they didn't understand that. Don't worry I know how you feel especially now that I'm pregnant. Thanks for the concern and I hope to see you again.

Uh-huh I say with a smile. I'll bet you two five packs of diapers that you'll have your babies in your beds at some point in your marriages.

me? yeah, of course...at some time, but not all of the time. besides, i'm not much of a pajama wearer, if you know what i mean. that might be fine for michael jackson, but i'll prefer my wife to be as the sole bed sharer in our room. for now i'll just stick with sleeping between my pre- and post-rehab britney spears dolls.

Let me know how the weaning process works, Boni. So far I am semi sucessful. As in just when we are sound asleep, or just when we are not sound asleep but having a wonderful time...here he comes, pooh bear or truck in hand, leaping onto the bed as it's Lord and Master.
The 'you're a big boy now' story doesn't seem to be cutting it. We ofen just lock him out, but then we (and the neighbors) have to deal with the wailing.
I'm considering chains, as in dungeon.
Anybody know what works?

I have spent every night since Saturday last week wanting to pull my hair out. Sunday night I nearly collapsed from emotional strain when Sommer tearfully hung on to me sobbing saying, "but I need you mommy". I tried sleeping with her in her room and leaving when she fell asleep, but she woke me up four times screaming at the top of her lungs. I tried letting her scream too, but I finally got sleep at about 1:00 am. Nothing seems to be working. I need any suggestions I can get too! Let's form a committee, do some impact studies and then waste time talking about it but doing nothing.

Sorry Brad, I can't post what you wrote because it contains a word that I don't endorse when referring to my sweet little girls. But I think I'll fill up my spray bottle tonight!

I miss you very much my sister. Last night Sommy woke us up three times crying. I know it will end, but I am battling lack of sleep right now. Good luck with my son over there.
