In a Hurry, Have to Post

Harry is the decided winner of the Saipan's Best Blogger Contest. My sincerest congratulations to Harry, and to the rest of the blogging crew who deserve to be recognized! Next time we drink margaritas to celebrate, please call my cell phone, one of you has the number, I'm sure of it.

I had an awesome first day of school and am already falling in like with my 21 students. We worked on observations and inferences yesterday.

I observed that Ms. Boni was our teacher when I saw her greet us good morning at the door.
I inferred that she got fired as principal and had to be a teacher again.

Pretty good, eh?

Billy Bot got loose this morning and ate some flowers. Now he has morning-glory-breath. He,he,he,ha,ha,ha!!!

Reading A Thousand Splendid Suns right now. Loving it!

The smoking ban: I think it should go the route of popular initiative. When Cliff finally starts reading this blog and decides to get moving, he should know that there are many of us, including smokers like me, who will help. Let's get cracking man!

Okay, gotta go. See ya' later alligators!

A Thousand Splendid Suns is on my "to read" list. Did you read Kite Runner by the same author? Wow, "captivating" doesn't even do it justice. I just started Water for Elephants, okay so far.

: )

I haven't read Kite Runner, but Thousand is really great. If it weren't for the fact that I have four kids to attend to, I'd be glued to my chair. I just finished The Glass Castle and was underwhelmed.

I have Kite Runner sitting on a TBR shelf at home. Haven't read the others.

I always get confused between inferences and deductions, but your students sound pretty smart!

And as for the smoking ban, ha-news from Bobby Cadillac's--they've removed all the ashtrays in the restaurant. They'll give you one if you ask. Small steps.
Perhpas we should set up a petition online and start collecting signatures?

Ohh Ohh,,,that is only gets more intense. Love that book and Kite Runner too. They are both by the same author but very different stories.

Sorry you missed out on the free margarita and the chat, Boni. The offer still holds, all Best Blog contestants can come on over to Porky's for a free drink on the house. Several have already had theirs but the offer is open til all contestants have had their free one. Just come in, bow to the hairless icon in the corner and get your free drink.

Other Good news, Smoking Ban wise:

Porky's now has 'Smokeless Wednesdays'. At the request of several folks, there is no smoking inside at Porky's on Wednesdays. Several non-smokers have told me that they would support a place with such a policy. We'll be watching and hope that it will work out. Please come on over and sip a glass of wine or guzzle a margarita and enjoy the evening in smokeless comfort.

Bren: I love the book! Hopefully Dale and I will get some relief, but for now, Hatchet and BFG are the only books I am reading:)
Bruce: Thanks, I will definitely drop by, I think I was there three times last week:) About the ban, it will be a hassle for most smokers at first, but just like in Hawaii, after a while, I appreciated not smelling like an ashtray when I got home, and the walk outside to smoke is a small price to pay for keeping others safe.
