The world is beautiful too, no?Bonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15228259965485925558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038292459739751775.post-81729928410642642412007-05-14T16:44:00.000+10:002007-05-14T16:44:00.000+10:00Another thing I would say to mexicans and filipino...Another thing I would say to mexicans and filipinos, two groups eager to get out of their own countries, is that there is some obligation to fix up your own country. I'm married to a filipina, just spent a few weeks there, and all the employment pages are about working anywhere but there. A place can't lose its best and brightest and still survive. There are tons of Filipinos dying to get citizenship here, and that is good for them, but the PI will remain messed up, so while a U.S. visa might solve their problem, it won't solve the problem. The same goes for mexico and elsewhere.

The world is an ugly place in a lot of ways.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16129588857193564261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038292459739751775.post-85333247282231694342007-05-14T14:17:00.000+10:002007-05-14T14:17:00.000+10:00Thanks Jeff, I guess I should be more sympathetic ...Thanks Jeff, I guess I should be more sympathetic since we have that issue here too. Working for the elementary school for so long, I just automatically want to gather and protect all children. But you're right, there are people out there who do not see America as the land of opportunity for all, but as the a chance for their own opportunity. This is a tough issue.Bonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15228259965485925558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7038292459739751775.post-46449436839610996932007-05-14T13:57:00.000+10:002007-05-14T13:57:00.000+10:00I don't particularly like people sneaking across t...I don't particularly like people sneaking across the border to plop out a kid to make the kid american. There is a cottage industry for this in korea as well to get their kid out of korean military service down the line. When you look also at immigration in other countries, which is practically impossible in Japan, Korea and other places, sometimes I think the U.S. is played for suckers. There is a certain hypocrisy in all the illegal labor in landscaping and restaurants that everyone winks at.Jeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16129588857193564261noreply@blogger.com
